Frances H. Dippel

Frances H. Dippel, 91, of King George, Virginia (formerly of Polo, IL) peacefully went to be with her Creator on July 12, 2020 after a long life and a short illness. Frances was born October 16, 1928 in Tonica, Illinois to Edward and Lillian (Patten) Olson and grew up in Granville, IL.

Survivors include: her son, Alan (Diane) Dippel of Conover, NC; two daughters, Becky (Slam) Stewart of King George, VA and Jill (Louis) Vega of Belvidere, IL; sister, Patricia Andrews; cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Frances had other beloved family members and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth “Craig” Dippel; her sister, Karen Olson; and her brother, Edward Olson Jr. Frances moved with her former husband, Kenneth Dippel, and family to a farm in Polo in 1960 from Dixon, IL. While raising her four children, Frances received a Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Illinois University and enjoyed teaching music to school children. She played piano, organ, and ukulele, and sang in local churches. She later bought and operated the farm in Polo and was one of the first solo women farmers in the Polo area. Frances was a caring, loving, and giving mother and grandmother of great faith. She was a fun, positive, talented, and intelligent woman who enjoyed visiting and encouraging others.

The visitation is Monday, July 20, from 5:00-7:30 PM at Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon St., Polo, IL 61064. Facial coverings and social distancing practices are expected. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 21, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon. Pastor Terrie Wilder of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Polo, will officiate.
