Larry A. Mackey

Larry A. Mackey Jr, 47, of Belvidere (formerly of Polo), passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018, in Rockford, with family and friends by his side.  Larry was born September 5, 1970, in Freeport, the son of Larry and Marlene (Garman) Mackey Sr.  Larry was a veteran of the US Navy serving from March 1991 to February 1999.  He worked for the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Belvidere and belonged to the UAW 1268, UAW Veterans Committee 1268, American Legion Post 77 and VFW Post 1461.

Survivors include mother Marlene Mackey of Polo; sister Jesica (Bill) Kalas of Belvidere; brother Jeremy (Raeann Whitman) Mackey of Sterling; special friend Dawn Jackson; niece Amanda; William (Kayla Cunningham) and Dalton; great nieces Jayden and Lily.

He was preceded in death by father Larry Sr; maternal grandparents Marjorie and Milo Garman; paternal grandparents LaVon Shank and Wilbur Mackey; nephews Cody Allan and Jordan David.

A memorial visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Polo Family Funeral Home 110 E Dixon St, Polo, with a 5:30 Honor Guard tribute and refreshments served at the Polo American Legion 102 E. Mason St.  A private burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo.

At the request of Larry and his family cremation rites have been accorded.
