Mary Ellen Davis

Mary Ellen Davis, 79, of Polo, peacefully passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at Pinecrest Manor in Mt. Morris.

Mary was born July 12, 1942, in Benton, IL, the daughter of George and Hazel (Moss) Gulley. On Nov. 25, 1982, in Polo, IL, she was united in marriage to Michael A. Davis.

Mary was a graduate of Benton High School. For over 20 years, Mary worked as the bookkeeper at Forrestville Valley and Polo Community School Districts and served as the assistant to the Superintendent.

Mary was active in her community. She volunteered regularly at Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon, and, on numerous occasions, opened her home to many for Christmas walks.

Over community, Mary had her family… she loved and enjoyed them more than anything.

She put her family first, whether it was traveling with or caring for her spouse, laughing and shopping with her children, or staying up and caring for her grandchildren, Mary was always there with welcoming arms and a smile. And, friends of the family were treated with equal energy, for there was no shortage of joy, empathy or care.

Mary enjoyed her life and shared that joy with others through her kindness and love.
