Phyllis JoAnn Bryson

Phyllis JoAnn Bryson, age 80, of Polo, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017.

She was born March 20, 1936 to Elwyn C. Wolf and Helen Ferry Wolf Jones in Sterling, Illinois. She married Arlyn E. Bryson on September 24, 1954, at the Milledgeville Church of the Brethren.

Phyllis is survived by her children Donna Crow, Milford, Illinois, Lenny (Becky) Bryson, Polo, Gail (Brian) Schroeder of Madison, Wisconsin. Surviving grandchildren are Travis Crow of Cissna Park, Illinois, Molly (Tony) Crow Gorup of Raymond, Illinois, Suzanne Bryson of Peoria, Arizona and Lance Bryson of Aubrey, Texas, as well as Megan, Morgan and Wyatt Patterson. She had four great grandsons, Bryson Crow, Acelin, Atticus and Archer Gorup. She is survived by one brother, Donald (Donna) Wolf of Polo and brother-in-law Leland (Ruth) Bryson of Milledgeville. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband a mere 8 days earlier on February 12th; Also predeceasing Phyllis are her parents, Elwyn C. Wolf, Helen Ferry Wolf Jones and Richard Jones, son-in-law Randy Crow, one brother and sister- in-law Gerry and Marlene Wolf, one sister-in-law Shelba Wolf, one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Phyllis Iler, one sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marie and George Baylor.

Phyllis was primarily a homemaker and was employed for the then Polo Floral and Gift and in later years, Charley’s Pharmacy in Polo. She was the main support for her husband’s businesses and chief in charge of preparation, readiness and many times driver for the family’s passion of showing Quarter horses.

Phyllis enjoyed bowling for 30+ years including travel to participate in many State and National tournaments with her friends. Many other interests also included reading, sewing and being member of the Patrick Fegan Post #83 American Legion Auxiliary in Polo. Phyllis was an avid coffee lover and met with her coffee buddies each day – especially her dear friend Maxine. She was baptized in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Milledgeville, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the Polo Fire Protection District and Ambulance or donor’s choice.

Coffee with Phyllis will be Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Pinecricker Café, 124 E. Mason St., Polo, with a memorial service at 1:30, Pastor Terrie Wilder officiating. Private graveside services for friends and family will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo.
