Robert D. Franklin, 80, of Milledgeville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at his home. Bob was born Oct. 22, 1937, in Mt. Morris, the son of Joseph and Martha (Slifer) Franklin. He was a veteran of the US Army. Bob enjoyed spending time on the family farm, working in the fields, maintaining farm equipment and he especially loved the harvest season. When Bob wasn’t busy on the farm, in the early years, he took time out to take his family to AMA Flat Track motorcycle races. He would spend time at the river lot with his family yearly for their family reunions. Bob attended many of the local farm auctions, enjoyed fishing in the Rock River and building hayracks at the farm.
Survivors include wife Betty; daughters Sharyn Staley of Oregon and Cynthia (Steven) Engelkens of Baileyville; sons Robert Franklin of Ohio and Jonathon Franklin of Iowa; sister Lois Abrahamson of Nebraska; 3 grandchildren Michael (Christina) Staley, Tyler Staley and Faith Engelkens
He was preceded in death by his first wife Geraldine (Reber) Franklin; sister Helen Anderson; brother Joseph Franklin.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. till service time at 11:00 a.m. at the Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon St, Polo. Burial will immediately follow at Silver Creek Cemetery in Mt. Morris.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Dancers Against Cancer.
