James “Jim” L. Matznick, 76, of Dixon, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022, in Gilbertsville, Kentucky. Jim was born February 2, 1946, in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Lester and Winafred Matznick. He was united in marriage to Trudie Matznick on July 23, 1966, in Milledgeville. Jim served with the US Army National Guard. After retiring from the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 219, he enjoyed driving for Ken Nelson.
Jim enjoyed many hobbies like fishing, hunting, and daily coffee time with his friends at the local coffee shop. He made many memories throughout the years with his grandchildren and family at the cottage and boating on Kentucky Lake.
Survivors include daughter Amy (Johnny) Boward of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; son Barry (Kari) Matznick of Green Bay, Wisconsin; sister Vicki (Beaver) Miller of Mount Carroll, Illinois; brother Tom Matznick of the Quad Cities; grandchildren Abbie (Keynon) Janicke, Joshua (Kayla Harrington) Boward, Natalie (Garrett Hurley) Boward; and long time special friend Catherine Aurand.
He was preceded in death by his wife Trudie, mother, and father.
Visitation will be Monday, June 27, 2022, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church 201 N. Division Ave in Polo. Services will follow at 10:30 a.m. also on Monday June 27, 2022, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be immediately following the service at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Sterling.
