Edward “Ed” M. Grossnickle, 73, of Polo, passed away peacefully on Friday June 10, 2022.
Ed was born October 7, 1948, in Dixon, Illinois, the son of Melvin and Edna Grossnickle. On September 7, 1969, in Polo, he married Nancy Olsen.
Ed was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War. Once home from the service, he went to work on the family farm. Ed farmed in the Polo area for many years. Ed enjoyed spending time on the farm, fishing up north, playing cards and telling jokes. His greatest love was his family, especially being a Papa to his four grandsons. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his devoted wife Nancy; daughters Amy (Cliff) Bardell of Polo; Lori (Ryan) Wolber of Polo; grandchildren Tommy, Joey, Parker and Brady; and his brothers, Steve (Linda) Grossnickle & David Grossnickle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Tim.
A private family service was held at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo.
