Zondra Faye (Klaas) Baley 1935-2019.

Zondra Baley born March 28, 1935 to Elmer and Aleatha (Diestelmeier) Klaas in Freeport, IL, passed away the evening of Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Pinecrest Manor Terrace with her family at her side.

Zondra married James Baley on October 4, 1952. Zondra is survived by her two daughters: Jan (Larry) Mainz, Mission, TX and Linda (Gregory) Smith, Polo, IL; Grandchildren: Jenny (Steve Stadel) Smith, Michael (Vikkie) Smith, Carolyn (Joseph) Kelly, Jamie Smith, Joseph Smith, Emily (Tony) Hardin, Mark Smith, and Paul Smith; Step-Grandchildren: Holly (John) Andrews and Jody (Andy) Heideman; Great Grandchildren: Dalton, Matthew, Kristin, Rabecca, Lillian, Olivia, Lucas, Adriana, Bryn, Levi, and Jess; Step-Great Grandchildren: Drew, Cameron and Kate; Sisters: Helaine (Clyde) Price of Texas and Faith Brookman of Lena, IL. Zondra was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Diane (Jess) McIlvainie and Mona (Merlan) Fernstaedt, and brother-in-law, Rodney Brookman.

Zondra worked for a brief time at Lena State Bank. Her main role in life was being a homemaker and doing for others. She was very active in her church, Polo Women’s Club, Polo Garden Club, and Card Club. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, baking, and entertaining grandkids. She enjoyed corresponding with her family and many close friends.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E Dixon St. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Salem United Church of Christ, 8491 W Salem Rd, Lena. Luncheon will be provided immediately following at the Church.

Special thank you to the staff who cared for Zondra on the Terrace at Pinecrest Community and to the Serenity Hospice nurses.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Zondra’s name going to Pinecrest Terrace and her Church.
