Charles “Jerry” Schwingel passed away on December 28, 2022, age 88. He was born in Palatine, IL on April 5, 1934. His parents were Evelyn (Peterson) and Jacob Schwingel. He was one of 8 children. In 1954, he enlisted in the Army. In 1959, he married Priscilla (Brif). They lived and raised 3 children in Arlington Heights, IL.
Jerry was self-employed and enjoyed his work doing home maintenance and remodeling. In 2005, he and Priscilla purchased a condo in Daytona Beach, Florida. In 2007, they purchased a small motor home and for 10 years they travelled to Florida to spend their winters. Jerry loved to travel and meet new people.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son David, who recently passed away in February, his 3 brothers Jim, Ken, and Bill, and his sister Judy Weisheit.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Priscilla, his daughter Sandra(Dan) Bocker, son Matthew(Heather) Schwingel and 3 sisters, Joyce Reeves, Jean Powell, and Janet(Cy) Boucher. He has 5 grandchildren, Hananiah Schwingel, Sydney(Andy) Bartelt, Steve, Spencer and Sawyer Frano and 3 great grandchildren.
Services will be 11:00 a.m on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at St. Marks Lutheran Church 201 N. Division Ave., Polo, IL. Visitation will be prior to start of services from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. also at the church. A luncheon will follow the service. Memorials may be sent to St. Marks Lutheran Church.
