Jeanne Renee (Minervino) Scholl, 83, of Polo, IL went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Even though our sadness is immense, we take comfort in Jesus’ promise of eternal life. She is dancing with the angels and back with her best friend and partner, Tom.
Jeanne was born July 24, 1939 in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1957. She married Dennis Newcomer and following his death married Tom Scholl on August 26, 1962, who proceeded her in death in 2007.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Polo. Through the years, Jeanne was active in Beta Sigma Phi, Jaycettes, PEO and the Ogle County Women’s Republican Club. She was an Ogle County election judge and completed Tom’s term on the Ogle County Board following his untimely death.
Jeanne was an amazing cook and baker. On the farm, she fueled the men, who fueled the tractors, that tilled the ground. She found joy in working in her yard and was skilled at keeping the landscape beautiful. She was an avid reader with a particular interest in books pertaining to our nation’s history. She was proud to be a Republican and was patriotic to her core. She found ironing relaxing, so needless to say, everything in the house was wrinkle free. She held a special place in her heart for her St. Mark’s Lutheran Church family. Volunteering came easy to her, and she often participated in many church activities. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Our hearts are broken but are filled with memories that will sustain and lift us as we live life on earth without her.
Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Morningside of Sterling-Memory Care and the care team from VITAS for the exceptional care they provided for our mother. They served her with such dignity and treated her as if she was their own. We will be forever grateful for their guidance, reassurance and hugs.
Jeanne is survived by her children: Terry Newcomer of Mt Morris, Susan (Mike) Connell of lowa, Paula (Kevin) Humphrey and Jeanna (Gary) Fulrath of Polo; grandchildren: Erin, Bryan, Dillon, Ashlan, Kristin, Joshua, Shawn, Ty, Scott, Amie, Erica, and Thomas; great-grandchildren: Kellan, Jaxson, Hayden, Claire, Chloe, Graham, Brody, Carson, Nola, Olive, Corbin, Hadley, Brayden, Elizabeth, Caroline, Joleen, Addison, and Jackson; two siblings: Joan (Rick) Nelson of Clare and Paul Minervino.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 29th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, located at 201 N. Division Ave, Polo, with a memorial service to begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a luncheon. A graveside service at Fairmount Cemetery will conclude the services at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Polo.
