Darlene Mae Toms, 84, of Dixon, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at her residence. She was formerly employed with Crum and Forster in clerical and Finger Refuse as a bookkeeper.
Darlene was born August 18, 1934, in Ridott, the daughter of Oliver and Gladys (Saxby) Peifer. She married Robert Toms Sr. on August 23, 1952 at the Pincecreek Christian Church, Polo. He survives. She attended Pinecreek Christian Church and was a long time member of the Living History Antique Association of Franklin Grove. She loved and enjoyed to knit, embroider and teaching sunday school for many years. She was an avid collector of many things including cookbooks.
Survivors include her Husband; a Son Brian Toms, Dixon; two Sisters Rosemary Craig, Polo and Lois Degarmo, Freeport. She was preceded in death by a Son Robert Toms Jr. and a Sister Betty O’Brien.
Graveside Services are being held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, Dixon, with the Pastor Charlotte Hoppe officiating. A memorial visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Polo Family Funeral Home, Polo.
