Hobart Harlan Bailey, age 90 of Franklin, died Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Medical Center in Franklin. Visitation will be Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 4pm until 6pm at Crafton Funeral Home. Visitation will be November 21, 2023 from 5pm until 7pm at Polo Family Funeral Home. A graveside service and burial will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 10am at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Dixon, Illinois. A native of Jonesboro, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Holt and Gladys Booth Bailey. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers – Marvin, Dennis and Larry Bailey; a sister – Wanda Meiners. He was a very hard worker and took pride in everything he did. He loved gardening and sharing his produce with family and friends. Mr. Bailey loved to golf, fish and was a member of a bowling league. He shot pool regularly and enjoyed gambling for fun. He was a veteran of the United States Army and wore his hat proudly. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and AM Vets. Survivors include his wife of 67 years – Dory Bailey; children – Tina Gardner (Dale) of Illinois and Cathy Trotti (Ned) of Mississippi; grandson – Scott Gardner along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews; 4 brothers – John, Dale, Carlos and Clarence Bailey; 4 sisters – Betty Duncan, Sara Lynn Smith, Janet Beasley and Donna Lou Campbell. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon St. in Polo, IL. A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in Dixon, IL.
