Roy “Eldon” Ports passed away peacefully at Polo Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center on Wednesday, March 26, 2019.
He was born January 11, 1929 to Roy and Clara (Roesch) Ports. Eldon was enlisted in the U.S. Army for 2 years, then farmed the families land in Pine Creek till retirement. Eldon was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, now the Faith United Methodist Church in Polo. He enjoyed roller skating, playing the harmonica and he loved his horses. Eldon was also very generous by going out of his way to lend a helping had to his neighbors with chores whenever he could. He will be greatly missed from the stories and jokes he always told along with his laughter.
He was preceded in death by both parents; brother William and sister Helen.
Eldon leaves behind his nephew James (Kim) of Polo; great-niece Rachel of Rockford; great nephews Sean (Ainsley) of Dixon and Derek (Kennedi) of Polo; a great-great Niece and Nephew
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Faith United Methodist Church, 702 E Dixon St, Polo. Burial will take place at Brick Church Cemetery in Polo at a later date.
