Harlem Eugene Horton, 88, of Polo, passed away Friday June 6, 2025, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling, IL.
Harlem was born, August 15, 1936, in Haldane (rural Polo) IL, the son of James and Bessie (Morden) Horton. On July 15, 1959 in Oregon, IL, he was united in marriage to Genevieve “Picky” Ludwick (she preceded him in 2019).
Harlem worked for Imeco then to Johnson Control in Polo for over 52 years. You could often find Harlem sitting on his front porch waving and counting cars as they went by. He and his wife were big supporters of the Polo Area Senior Center, donating bikes every Christmas and sending items to soldiers overseas.
Survivors include daughters: Margaret (Bob) Bowers of Forreston, Lucie (Joe) Vest of LaFayette, TN; sons: Harlem B. (LeAnne) Horton of Milledgeville, IL, Howard (Marci) Horton of Milledgeville, IL; 2 Sisters: 2 Sisters; 16 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Picky; son Harold; 1 Sister; 3 Brothers.
Arrangements are currently pending. Cremation rites will be accorded.
