Jack Edward Dollmeyer, 56, of Polo passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 at UW Madison after a long, courageous battle with melanoma.
Son of Richard and Joyce (Schultz) Dollmeyer, Jack graduated from Forreston High in 1976 and Western Iowa Tech in 1978. A lifelong farmer, Jack married Kristine Wiederholtz on June 21, 1991.
Jack was an avid Polo Marcos fan. The highlight of his life was watching his sons play basketball and other sports. He spent many happy hours out in the pasture tending his cattle and watching them graze. He was a co-founder of the Polo farmers’ book club and enjoyed safety meetings at the Polo Co-op.
Survivors include wife Kris, sons Jake and AJ, and brothers John (Karen) and Tom (Celia). Mother-in-law Sandra Wiederholtz, brothers-in-law Rory (Traci) and Erik (Jenni), nieces McKayla and Tove, nephews Kuper and Wyatt, other relatives and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by parents Richard and Joyce and father-in-law Fred Wiederholtz.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 8th at Polo High School from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 9th at Faith United Methodist Church in Polo, with burial following at Fairmount Cemetery, Polo. Arrangements are being made by Polo Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established at a later date.
