Linda Mary Burke, 72, of Polo, passed away at 11:35 AM Thursday (July 24, 2014) at Polo Rehab and Health Care Center.
She had worked as a cook for the Polo Rehab and Health Care Center and last worked at Casey’s in Polo where she made the doughnuts every morning.
A celebration of life visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Wednesday at the Polo Senior Center.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The Polo Family Funeral Home in Polo is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born on April 13, 1942 in Elkhorn Grove Township, IL to Ervin George and Amy Louise (Shipman) Shuman. She married Robert Burke on June 21, 1963. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter: Teresa L. (Paul) Jenkins of Polo; two sons: Steve (Marti) Burke of Butte, Montana and Kevin (Karyn) Mon of Mt. Carroll; 5 stepsons; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters: Jean Polzin of Polo, Bev (Tom) Harmon of Chadwick and Connie (Leon) Medenblik of Chadwick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters: Bonnie Shuman and Donna Hansen.
Linda had attended Milledgeville High School.
She loved her family, her job and loved to cook.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Ahlzheimer’s Association.
