James “Jim” E. Keller, 78, of Polo, passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, at CGH Hospital in Sterling. He was a lifelong farmer in Ogle, Whiteside and Carroll Counties. Jim was dedicated to preserving the land and doing what was best for the environment. He had soft spot for animals, enjoyed wood working of any kind, frequenting the local sales and auctions or anything outdoors.
Jim was born, July 8, 1937, in Hardin County, IA, the son of Dr. Willard E. and Florence (Mudon) Keller. On June 10, 1959, in Morrison he was united in marriage to Emilie Olson (she preceded him on Oct. 7, 2013).
Survivors include daughter Jamie (Kevin) Budden of Freeport; brother G. Timothy (Carolyn) Keller of Sterling; granddaughter Raegan Budden of Freeport.
He was preceeded in death by brothers Thomas and Richard Keller.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon Street, Polo, with services at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Sterling.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
