Robert “Bob” D. Cunningham, 87, of Mt. Morris, passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Swedish American Hospital, Rockford. Bob was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Polo, the son of John and Gertrude (Stoner) Cunningham Sr. On August 30, 1947, in Dixon, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Phalen (she preceded him in December 2012).
Bob was a good steward of the land, he had a dairy farm for over 50 years just outside of Mt. Morris. He enjoyed traveling, being on his mower or in the fields. In retirement Bob still worked hard but got to play even harder.
Survivors include daughters Cheryl (John) Franklin of Bradenton, FL, Rosemary (James) Egan of Colorado Springs, CO, Cathy Fennel of Seguin, TX, Tammy (Romeo) Garcia of Seguin, TX; sons David (Pamela) Cunningham of Polo, Craig (Debbie Jackson) Cunningham of Oregon, Brian (Janet) Cunningham of Leaf River; sister Lora Lien of Wisconsin; 11 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law Michael Fennel; sisters Ruth Maxey, Pauline Jecklin, Doris Slankard, Marion Clark; brothers John and Willis Cunningham
Celebration of Life will be held at Bob’s home Friday, Oct. 7, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at Fairmount Cemetery, Polo.
