Mary E. Smith, 92, of Forreston, passed away Tuesday May 30, 2017, at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. Mary was born January 27, 1925, in Science Hill, KY, the daughter of Ernie P. and Evelyn (Massey) Robinson. On November 9, 1945 in Pulaski County, KY, she was united in marriage to Fred T. Smith (he preceded her in August 1989). Mary worked for Polo Community School District for over 20 years as a teacher. She attended Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY and completed her education at Pestalozzie in Chicago while raising 6 children. Mary published 2 auto-biography’s regarding her life.
Survivors include daughters Lisa (Rick) Hewes of Polo, Karen (Bob) Young of Haldane, Denise Mon of Freeport; sons Kevin “Tom” (Deb) Smith of Haldane and Timothy (Diana) Smith of Bartlett; 11 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by daughter Angela Brown and 3 Sisters
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. till service time of 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Faith Discovery Church, 801 W. Oregon St., Polo. Burial will take place at Haldane Cemetery immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
