Arvilla M. Siddens, 96, of Polo passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 with family by her side.
She was born on November 1, 1926 in Sterling IL to Olive (Cassell) and Ernest Cassens
Arvilla lived on the family farm in Malvern IL until the family moved to Polo IL. She met and married Emmons “Jim” Knudson. They were married October 7th, 1950 at the Polo United Methodist Church. He passed away in January 1983. Arvilla would always attend the Malvern Gang Reunions. She then got reacquainted with her grade school crush Charles Siddens. They were married October 1998 and he passed January 2009.
Arvilla worked many jobs. She worked at the Polo Telephone Office, Polo Cleaners, and Polo School District. She went to work at Kable News when her daughter was 6 years old to earn money to buy her a piano and ended up working there until her retirement. After retirement, she cared for her precious granddaughters.
Arvilla lived in Malvern, IL, Polo, Sterling and her last 9 years she has resided at Heritage Woods Assisted Living in Sterling. She loved living there. Her family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, residents, and RN’s for their great care of Arvilla.
Survived by daughter Donna (Ed) Dyer, Polo; granddaughters Angie (Tracey) Hill, Polo, Emily (Tom) Goddard, Carbondale, Ellie (Scott) Roberts, Polo; great grandchildren Sophie Watts, Polo, Mackenzie Wagner, Carbondale, Parker, Haileigh, Brilee Goddard, Carbondale, Ava, Carly Roberts, Polo; half sister Nancy Cassens, Sterling, IL; special god-daughter Shelly Shull, Decatur, Alabama; many Cassens cousins of the Sterling area and cousin Rita Swanson will hold a special place in our hearts as she was Arvilla’s go to person.
Arvilla is preceded by husbands Jim Knudson and Charles Siddens; sister Lenora Bakener; brothers Vern and Ev Cassens
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. on June 2, 2023 at Fairmount Cemetery with Pastor John Trotter officiating.
