Darrell D. Rothermel, 71, of Polo, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at his home in Polo with family by his side.
He was born April 12, 1944, in Polo, the son of Lester and Celia (Rae) Rothermel. On June 3, 1967, in Freeport, he was united in marriage to Susan Mary Fasanella. Darrell and his wife owned and operated Ag Related Enterprises Inc. in Polo for over 20 years. He then went on to work in sales for Northland Buildings for 15 years until his retirement recently.
Survivors include wife Susan; daughter Audra Rothermel of Chicago; sons Darren (Marie) Rothermel of Fox River Grove, IL, Nathan (Ann) Rothermel of Bloomington, IL; sister Calista (Dan) Hartman of Polo; brothers Rae and Harlan Rothermel both of Polo, Delmar (Vi) Rothermel of Shannon; granddaughters Emma and Meg Rothermel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Phyllis Ruter, brother Alan Rothermel.
Memorial visitation will be Tuesday, May 26, 2015, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon St., Polo. A private burial will be held at St. Mary Cemetery, Polo.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Polo Fire Department.
