David A. Blough, 58, of Polo, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019, at MercyHealth Hospital in Rockford with family and friends by his side.
David was born March 26, 1961, in Oregon, IL the son of Dale and Aida (Dermenjian) Blough. A lifelong resident of Polo, David graduated from General Motors Institute with an engineering degree before changing careers to become an Illinois State Trooper. David went on to serve in the Illinois State Police in various roles for over 20 years, having retired in 2016. David loved his friends and family. He loved playing the piano and being a DJ at events, and he loved riding the backroads of Northern Illinois on his Harley.
Survivors include fiance’ Patha Brandon; sister Anne (Eric) Gaertner of Glen Ellyn; nephew Nathan Gaertner and niece Emily Gaertner.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday May 4, 2019 at Polo Church of the Brethren, 401 S. Congress. Family will receive guests from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service, and also after the service.
In lieu of flowers or a memorial contribution, we encourage you to do something that David enjoyed doing: pick up your phone to text or call a friend; rise earlier to appreciate the sunrise colors of a new morning; be grateful for the gift of music in the world; or go for a run on a beautiful day.
