David P. Short Jr., 40, of Dixon (formerly of Polo), passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, at Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon.
David was born March 14,1974, in Dixon, the son of David P. and Irene E. (Thibeault) Short. On Aug. 20, 1994, in Polo, he was united in marriage to Claudia Mecum.
David attended the Abiding Word Church, Sterling and volunteered for the Harmon Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife Claudia; parents David and Irene; sister Renee Short of Polo; brother Jeffrey Short of Polo; many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews; along with Davids faithful companions, his dogs, Chole, Bake and Skip.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Neil and Blanch Short, maternal grandparents Joe and Ethel Thibeault.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 10 to 11a.m. Friday at Polo Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11a.m. at Fairmount Cemetery, 1533 Illinois Rt 26, Polo.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
