David T. Huening, 74, of Polo, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at UW Hospital in Madison with family by his side. Dave was born June 9, 1946 to Bernard and Josephine Huening. He grew up in Chicago, raised a family in Mundelein, retired in Ingleside and enjoyed the last 9 years of his life in Polo. Dave was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the Army in the 359th transportation unit. After his time in the service, he became a union electrician, with the Chicago 134 and a member of the Oregon VFW Post 8739 and the American Legion of Mundelein. Dave met the love of his life, Christine, in 1968 at a currency exchange she worked at. They married on January 18, 1969, and enjoyed over 51 years of marriage. Together they raised 3 daughters and have enjoyed watching their 5 grandchildren grow up.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Christine; daughters Wendy Huening, Jenny Camp and Katie (Keith) Chesnut; grandchildren Sean, Maddie, Emily, Cole and Knox; sisters Jackie Gibbons and Lu Arndt; many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Vivian Mortell.
Due to the covid 19 pandemic a celebration of life will be planned at a future date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in Dave’s memory to the Oregon VFW Post 8739, 1310 W. Washington St., Oregon, IL 61061.
