Donald Eugene Wiltfang, 87, of Polo, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 18. The son of Jake and Leona Wiltfang, he was born on November 23, 1930 in Oregon. He was employed by Schwerman Trucking in Dixon before he retired. Don married Alma Mae Smith on June 19, 1951. He loved his country and proudly served in the Korean War. He was a member of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. Don and Mae also attended First Baptist Church in Polo for many years.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Alma Mae, of 67 years, one son, LaVerne Brokaw of Caledonia, 3 daughters, Virginia Schonfelder of Lynchburg, VA, Debra Barton of Hope Mills, NC and Corrine Wiersema of Bluffton, SC, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Polo Family Funeral Home, Friday, July 27 from 1-2:30 with the funeral at 2:30. Burial to follow services at Fairmount Cemetery, Polo, Reverend Dalmus Meeks officiating. Military rites will be accorded. Luncheon will follow at Faith Discovery Church on Oregon Street in Polo.
A memorial has been established to Faith Discovery Church.
