Elwin (Bill) W. Janssen, 88, of Polo, passed away March 4, 2017, at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. Elwin was born September 7, 1928, in Sterling, the son of Siebelt and Elsa (Stern) Janssen. On July 26, 1958 in Sterling, he was united in marriage to Doris Scholl. Elwin was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a longtime farmer till his retirement. After retirement Elwin delivered heavy equipment for John Deere. He enjoyed spending time at the water fishing and in his early years he enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include wife Doris; daughters Patricia (Dave) White of Dixon and step-daughter Candy Trudell of Rochelle; grandchildren Hillary Lockner of Dixon and Rodney and Lance Trudell of Vinton, IA; 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by sisters Alta Mertz and Katherine Helms; brothers Merv Janssen and Harold Janssen.
Memorial visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Polo Family Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, 2017 with memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to Serenity Hospice and Home.
