George “Gene” E. Schmidt Jr., 54, of Polo, passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at his home. He was born, August 31, 1960, in Rockford, the son of George E. and Lois E. (Bollman) Schmidt Sr. Gene was a longtime farmer in the Polo area and very active within the Polo community.
Survivors include sister Debbie (John) Hammer of Atlanta, GA, step-sister Teresa Olsen of Minnesota; brother Bill (Pam) Schmidt of Princeton, WI, step-brothers Michael (Carrie) Wagner of Rockford, Greg (Jane) Wagner of Polo, Steven (Penny) Wagner of New Mexico; numerous Nieces and Nephews
He was preceded in death by his Parents; step-mother Nancy Schmidt; and niece Melanie Wagner.
The memorial visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 20th at the Polo Church of the Brethren with services to follow at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
