Polo – Gladys M. Typer, 96 of Polo, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, at Polo Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Gladys was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Sterling, the daughter of George and Anna Wechsler. She met her future husband William Typer at the local roller rink and were married on Oct. 18, 1945 in Polo. Gladys belonged to the Faith United Methodist Church, volunteered with Second Hand Rose, UMW, Polo Senior Center and the Tebala Shrine Women. She enjoyed reading, horseback riding and was an avid recycler before its time.
Survivors include daughters Dori (John) Jury of Wisconsin and Barb (Tim) Ruter of Shannon; sons Jim Typer of Colorado and Don (Janis) Typer of Sullivan, IL; sister Ethel Warner of Sterling; 9 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; daughter Nancy Lynn Peltz; sister Arlene Grobe; 3 brothers Lowell, Ken and Jr. Wechsler.
Visitation will be Friday at Faith United Methodist Church from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. A Private family service will follow with her being laid to rest next to her husband at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Faith United Methodist Church or Polo Senior Center.
