Harlan J. Alderks, 76, of Forreston, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015 at Provena St. Joseph Center, Freeport. He worked with both his father and Farmers Lumber as a carpenter for many years.
Harlan was born Feb. 18, 1938, in Rochelle the son of Harm and Mary (Yardley) Alderks. On Feb. 21, 1959, in Franklin Grove, he was united in marriage to Mary Suter (she preceded him in 2005).
Survivors include daughters Dawn (David) Fitzgerald of Polo, Harlene Alderks of Polo, step-daughters Judy (Russell) Castle of Dixon and Joanne (Jerry)Hitchcock of Oregon; son Kevin (Dione) Alderks of Baileyville, step-son Mike (Sylvia) Gilroy of Dixon; sister Mary Georks of Oregon; 7 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 13 Step-Grandchildren, 20 Step-Great Grandchildren, 2 Step-Great Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughters Kimberly Alderks and Lavona Crossen, step-son Jesse Gilroy, sister Lavona Bishop.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, from 9:00-10:00 AM at Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon Street, Polo. Service will follow at 10:00 AM, Thursday, with burial at White Rock Cemetery, Kings.
