Juanita R. Horton, 82, of Polo, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014, in Freeport. She worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for over 20 years as a dispatcher. Juanita was a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was born September 3, 1932, in Rockford, the daughter of Audrie and Julia (Challand) Long.
Survivors include sons Gregg E. (Peggy) Horton of Collinsville, IL, Eric (Teri) Horton of Memphis, MI; brother Emmett (Lilian) Long; grandchildren Kate (Tom) Page, Amy (Jay) Mackie, Emily, Ellen, Steven, Thomas Horton; 2 great grandchildren Allison and Walker Page.
She was preceded in death by a brother Allen Long and former husband Graham Horton.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and Monday from 9:00-10:00 AM both at Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon Street, Polo. A private graveside service will be held Monday at Fairview Cemetery, Dekalb. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
