Kenneth “Kenny” V. Imel, 82, of Polo, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Polo Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born February 13, 1935, in Chadwick, the son of Harold and Gladys (Tripp) Imel. On April 8, 1961, in Morrison, he was united in marriage to Rita Stichter (she preceded him in June of 2015). Kenny was a veteran of the United States Army and worked for Plastic Express until retirement. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Polo, and the Polo Area Senior Center. Kenny grew up on the family farm outside of Chadwick, engaged in livestock and crop production. In his adult life living in rural Polo he maintained interest in agriculture, livestock and old farm equipment mainly tractors. His passion of agriculture continued along with pursuing a career as an over the road truck driver from which he retired in 2005.
Survivors include his sons Aaron (Cindy Schryver) Imel of Polo, Arlyn (Sandra) Imel of Muskogee, OK, Andrew (Annette) Imel of Fordland, MO; grandchildren Scott Hill, Stacey James, Heather (Michael) Barnhart, Shane, Heath, Brandon and Ashton Imel, Chelsea Schryver; 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Rath; brother Floyd Imel.
Visitation will be Friday, April 7, 2017 at Barnacopia, 2570 NW Branch Rd, Polo, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph P. Naill officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Polo.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
