Linda S. Meyer, 76, of Leaf River, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at Generations At Neighbors in Byron.
Linda was born April 4, 1947 in Rock Falls, IL, the daughter of Neil and Myrtle Blanch (Snyder) Short. On May 11, 1973 in Oregon, she was united in marriage to Paul “Pete” Meyer and together they celebrated 50 years.
Linda graduated from Sterling High School in 1965. She grew up living in the Coleta area and was in Adeline for 50 years during the marriage of her and husband Pete. Linda worked for a few places but the best job and last job was the Rock River Center driving the senior citizen van in Polo retiring in 2010. Linda attended Crossroads Community Church in Polo and enjoyed walks, doing puzzles, reading and emailing friends. Her most favorite thing was spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending all the events that she could, while hearing their laughs and smiles. She enjoyed jokes and sharing stories whenever she could. Linda fought a strong and long courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, with amazing support from her family.
Survivors include her husband Pete; daughters Kim (Scott) Jackson of Forreston, IL, Nicole (Luke) Lilja of Ridott, IL, Chris (Denny Neyens) Witmer of Savanna, IL; 7 Grandchildren; and her best friend Linda Morris.
She was preceded in death by a grandson Jory P. Snyder; sister Betty Bowlin; 4 brothers LeRoy, Chuck, Jim and Dave Short.
A memorial visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2023 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon St., Polo. The memorial service will be Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Adeline Zion Evangelical Church, 9106 N. Cedar St., Leaf River.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
