Lorraine L. Meyer, age 86, passed away on Saturday May 23, 2020 at Pinecrest Community Nursing Home in Mt. Morris, IL.
Lorraine was born on March 26, 1934 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, the daughter of Ernest and Lottie (Noble) Knie. Their family moved to Illinois and she graduated from Polo High School in 1952. Lorraine married Vernon Meyer on September 26, 1953 in Polo, IL. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2017.
Lorraine enjoyed music, gardening, painting, bird watching, and nature. She will be remembered for her love of family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lorraine was a member of the Polo and Dixon Church of the Brethren.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Jerry (Jane) Meyer of Orion IL, Jeannie (Mike) Sanders of Lansing MI, Laura Meyer (William Huffman) of Dixon IL, and daughter-in-law Libby Meyer of Byron IL. Lorraine is also survived by six grandchildren, Diane (Trace) Bauman, Nick (Lisa Koerner) Meyer, Matt Meyer, David (Amy) Meyer, Sarah Sanders, Samantha Sanders; and five great-grandchildren, Leah Bauman, Caleb Bauman, Beckett Meyer, Sullivan Meyer, and Ashton Meyer. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Rick Meyer, brothers Chuck Knie and Larry Knie, and nephew, Mark Knie.
Due to current Coronavirus restrictions for social gatherings, a celebration of Lorraine’s life will be planned for a later date. Arrangements are being coordinated by Polo Family Funeral Home.
