Mary “Frances” Louise Van Oosten, 97, of Polo, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at her home with family by her side.
Frances was born October 18, 1924, in Dixon, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Georgiana Drew. On September 22, 1945 in Dixon, she married Henry “Hank” Van Oosten.
Grandma Fran enjoyed having her family around for holidays, family meals leaving her door open for all to come. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Polo and the Polo American Legion Ladies Auxillary.
Survivors include her daughter Georgia (Dick Kimpel) Van Unnik of Polo; sons Marvin (Susan) Van Oosten of Dixon, James (Sharon) Van Oosten of Dixon, Steve (Susan) Van Oosten of Fulton, Jeffrey (Jo Dee) Van Oosten of Polo and Vance (Becky) Van Oosten of Polo; sisters Charlotte Miller of Hot Springs, AR and Beverly Voss of Allentown, PA; 61 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hank and a great-grandson Zachary Blase.
A Celebration of Life will be on Monday, September 26, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon St. in Polo. A private family graveside service will be held where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in her name.
