Reverend Monte J. Cox

Rev. Monte J. Cox, 69, of Polo, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, at Rockford Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born January 14, 1946, in Freeport, the son of Henry W. and Opal Mae (Pearce) Cox Jr. On June 23, 1973, in Blue Island, IL, Monte was united in marriage to Carol Anne Luchene. He pastored the Church of the Open Bible, in Polo, for 36 years.

Survivors include wife Carol; sons Neil (Tanya) Cox of Jonesborough, TN, Marty (Christie) Cox Sr. of Polo, Dan (Ericka) Cox of Polo; 11 grandchildren Christopher (Jessica) Cox, Cassie Lukan, Logan, Landen, Laken, Loryn, Haylee, Marty Jr., Alexia, Breanne and Camryn Cox; 4 great grandchildren Caleb, Selene, Daniel and Raiden Cox

He was preceded in death by parents, brother Karl Cox and great nephew Landon Turner.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Church of the Open Bible, 302 S. Franklin, Polo. The service will be held 10:30 AM, Friday also at the Church. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Polo, following the service.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
