Orlie “Pops” E. McConnaughay Jr., 76, of Dixon, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022, at KSB Hospital in Dixon.
Pops was born June 4, 1946, in East St. Louis, IL, the son of Orlie E. and Ernestine E. McConnaughay. On September 3, 1967 in Sterling, he married Susan Peile. He worked in medical sales for both Steele Medical and Aamed Medial retiring after over 40 years.
Pops was a member of the Holy Ghost Riders MM, the Jimmy Jack Foundation for kids and inducted in to the Country Gospel Music Association in 2017. He was a praise and worship minister for the last 50 years with various churches. Pops loved Christ, his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include wife Susan; daughters Elizabeth Kachur of Bentonville, AR and Deborah McConnaughay of WestChester, IL; sons Raymond (Lisa) McConnaughay of Carpentersville, IL, Shawn McConnaughay of Harrison, AR and James McConnaughay of Union, IL; sister Trish (Stan) Johnson of Beach Creek, PA; brother Douglas (Patty) McConnaughay of Sterling, IL; many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren Elizabeth and Emmanuel McConnaughay; and 4 Sisters.
A celebration of his life will be Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022 at Faith Discovery Church in Polo at 11:00 a.m. with a lunch to follow.
Honoring Orlie’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
