Phyllis Kay (Barnhart) Dyer, after a brave struggle with cancer, joined her granddaughter Maverick today and is now at peace in Heaven. Phyllis, also known as Susie to family and friends in Lanark, was born April 8, 1952, in Freeport Illinois to Marion and Herbert Barnhart. She attended Lanark Grade and High school where she met the love of her life, Robyn Dyer whom she married January 19, 1968. They settled in Polo and raised their two children, Kevin (Rochelle) Dyer and Deanna (Michael) Mumford.
Phyllis worked in manufacturing in Polo as well as enjoying several years at Daws Drug and Charley/Snyder Pharmacy. She was a fair bowler with Rosie, Ruth, Kathy, and Nancy at the Polo Bowl. Phyllis and Robyn looked forward to their summer vacations in Wisconsin with Ruth and Larry Loomis. Phyllis held close, her two best friends from Lanark, Darla Burkholder and Peggy Mosher rarely missing one of their monthly lunches together. She enjoyed traveling to Michigan, California, and Virginia to visit family. Her heart overflowed with her love for her grandchildren Tucker, Maverick, Gus, Mercer, and Landry. Hardly a game or an event was missed by Phyllis and Robyn. Having one of her favorite grandsons pop into her home made her day, lifted her spirits and made her smile each and every time. Phyllis and Robyn enjoyed making their house a home inside and out. They relished in decorating for any and all holidays.
Phyllis will be missed by her husband Robyn, son Kevin, his wife Rochelle, daughter Dee and her husband Mike and their sons (The Mumford Mafia) . She will also be missed by her sisters Marcia Printz and Maryna Misiewicz and their children, grandchildren along with her other nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Marion (Schneider) and Herb Barnhart, brothers Jim (Linda) Misiewicz, and Jon Barnhart, granddaughter Maverick Mumford and dear friend Ruth Loomis.
Memorial visitation will be Monday, March 31, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Polo, with a memorial service immediately following at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo with Rev.
