Reah “Toni” A. Travis, 69, of Polo, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at her home. She worked for M & M News Agency as a Distribution Manager. Toni was born, April 24, 1945, in Salineville, OH, the daughter of Merle Sr. and Nita (Culver) Smith. On March 18, 1962, in Polo, she was united in marriage to Larry Travis. Toni was very active with Stage 212 Illinois Valley Theater for over 20 years, serving as a producer, prop manager, and director. She was a die-hard Chicago Bears and Notre Dame football fan. Toni was a very giving and loving person, particularly where her family was concerned. She enjoyed reading and was especially fond of Agatha Christie’s and Janet Ivanovich’s books. Johnny Mathis was her favorite singer. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, and loved art.
She was preceded in death by Nita Smith (Mother), Merle Smith Sr. (Father), Merle Smith Jr. (brother), and Marcia Owen (sister). Toni is survived by Dan Smith (brother), Darrell Culver (cousin), Karen Culver (cousin), Michael Travis (son), Heather Jones (daughter), Cassandra Travis-Hughes (granddaughter), Andrea Jones (granddaughter), Thomas Jones (grandson), Leah (granddaughter), Alex Rupp (great grandson), Jennsen Rupp (great granddaughter), Jocelyn Alvarez (great granddaughter), Michele Tripp (niece), Pamela Owen (niece), Steven Owen (nephew), and Greg Owen (nephew).
A graveside service will be held 12:00 p.m., Thursday, at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in Dixon, and the Polo Senior Center will host a luncheon at 1:30 p.m. Honoring Toni’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and, in lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
