Rev. Ronald McIlnay was called home to Jesus on February 19, 2015, a moment for which he prepared most of this life. Born to J.A. and Pearl (Powell) McIlnay on October 25, 1927, in Freeport, IL, Ron is survived by his “older by seven minutes” twin brother Don McIlnay of Freeport, Ron’s wife Donna (House) McIlnay of Mt. Morris, his children, Sandy and Bruce, three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He is further survived by his sister-in-law Bernie and a niece, nephew and grandniece. Ron and Donna were married February 14, 1952, in Madison, Wisconsin, while Ron was serving in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service in the Marines, Ron finished is undergraduate work in Animal Husbandry at the University of Wisconsin and worked for the Hormel Meat Packing Company for nearly 20 years, when he was called into the ministry. Ron earned a Masters of Divinity degree from the Midwestern Theological Seminary in Kansas City, and served as pastor of three Churches in Kansas City, KS until his retirement. Ron and Donna then relocated to the Pinecrest Community in Mt. Morris, where for the past several years, Ron has received outstanding care and love in the memory care unit.
A private graveside service will be held Monday, February 23, 2015 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo, WI.
