Richard Lee Jones, 86, of Polo, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, at KSB Hospital surrounded by family.
Richard was born May 8, 1936, in Dixon, Illinois , the son of Russell and Ethyl (Miller) Jones. On August 16, 1958 in Liberty, IL he married his college sweetheart Marilyn Whitmore. Richard was a second generation farmer in the Polo area. He enjoyed collecting antique farm equipment, was a lifelong model railroad hobbyist and got himself in trouble when he started collecting motorcycles and encouraged others to follow suit. Richard was a member and was very active with the Polo Church of the Brethren as an organist, a Deacon, the Brethren Volunteer Service and served with his newly wedded wife in Nappanee, IN. He and Marilyn met at Manchester College music program and together went on to make beautiful music for the rest of their days.
Survivors include daughter Patricia Crumley of Polo; son Darrel (Janette) of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren Mathew (Emma) Jones, JoAnne Dusenbury, Johnny Crumley, Jennifer (Dan) Fu, Justin Messer, Josh (Brandie) Messer; 7 great-grandchildren .
He was preceded in death by wife Marilyn; son-in-law John B. Crumley.
A memorial visitation will be Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Polo Church of the Brethren, 401 S. Congress Ave., Polo. A memorial service will be immediately following at 10:30 a.m at the church followed by a luncheon. A graveside service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon, IL will conclude the services at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
