Richard Melvin Pope, 79, of Dixon, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon.
Richard was born December 6, 1943, in Dixon, IL, the son of Max L. and Betty Jane Pope. Richard served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966. He came back to the area and worked as a material handler with General Mills-Green Giant in Belvidere, IL. He enjoyed taking time to read, tending to his plants and crocheting.
Survivors include brothers Edward (Alice) Pope of Polo, IL and Dave Pope of Grand Detour, IL
He was preceded in death by his Parents and sister Sharon Newell.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary Catholic Church, 221 N. Franklin Ave, Polo. Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Father Richard Kramer officiating. Burial will be at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery also in Polo.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
