Richard R. Hose, age 88, ended life’s journey on November 1, 2023, at Rock River Hospice & Home, Sterling, Illinois after an extended illness. He was born on October 15, 1935, at home in Milledgeville, Illinois, the son of Oliver Upton and Hannah Elizabeth (McCracken) Hose.
Richard farmed his entire life, was in the Illinois National Guard and was Eagle Point Road Commissioner for over 40 years.
On November 26, 1955, Richard married Shelby Jean McKay. Of this marriage, two sons were born, Jeffrey Allen and Jerry Allen who in turn took up duties on the farm then their perspective careers.
Richard is survived by his wife, Shelby lacking less than a month celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary; sons, Jeffrey (Martha) and Jerry I (Linda), grandchildren Jerianne Hose-Ryan, Jerry Allen II (Nikki), Rockford, great grandson, Oliver, Rockford; sisters Nora Mitchell of Polo and Judy (David) Henderson of Marion, Illinois. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceding in death by his parents, Oliver and Hannah Hose, two brothers: infant Everett and Donald.
Richard will be laid to rest in a private service at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo, Illinois.
