Shirley A. Ulman, 83, of Polo, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Dixon Healthcare Center in Dixon, Illinois. Shirley was born January 21, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William and Helen (Wozniak) Kurek. On July 29, 1961 in Oak Park, Illinois, she married Frank Ulman and together they had two children, Donna Kugler and Steve Ulman.
Shirley loved animals and the outdoors, especially keeping her property looking good. She also enjoyed helping others and loved her family and Jesus.
Survivors include daughter Donna Kugler of Naperville, IL and son Steve Ulman of Polo; grandchildren Jake Ulman, Hillary Ulman, Anna Kugler, Abigail Kugler, Hope Kugler, and Charity Kugler. Shirley dearly loved her dogs Katie, Muffin, Maddie, Ginny, & River.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Helen Kurek and her husband Frank Ulman and siblings, Helen Zubek, William Kurek, Jr. and Robert Kurek.
Visitation will be held Saturday October 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon St. Polo. Services will be at 2:00 PM at the conclusion of the visitation. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo where Shirley will be laid to rest next to her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to donor’s choice of pet shelters.
