Thomas E. Bopes, 62, of Polo, died Thursday July 11, 2024 in Northwestern Memorial. Hospital, Chicago, IL.
He was born April 2, 1962 in Sterling, IL the son of Dale and Shirley Jean (Snow) Bopes. He drove truck for Bocker Grain for 25 years and could be recognized by his signature fluorescent stocking caps. He loved riding his Harley motorcycle and enjoyed tooling around Polo in his golf cart. He was also a NASCAR fan, but he cherished his grandkids the most.
He is survived by daughters, Tanya (Keith) Ebersole of Dixon and Shirley (Jeremy) McGuire of Amboy; sisters, Pam (Mark) Ellis of Polo and Jeannie (David O’Banion) Carter of Ashton; brother, Robert Bopes of Polo; grandchildren, Isiah, Destan, Preston, Kaleb, KayLynn, Alexis, Devyn, and Xavier; and great granddaughter, Clara. Also survived by nieces and nephews, Brendan and Alyssa Carter, Dani (Chad) Karrow, and Clinton (Amanda) Hussey. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Jean Bopes and daughter, Christina Bopes Nave. Funeral services will be held Thursday July 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Crossroad Community Church, 205 N. Jefferson Ave, Polo, IL 61064 with Pastor John Barry officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday July 17th from 5:00-7:30 PM. Concluding with final send off at 7:30.
